Trauma management

In case of traumatic injuries, the adult who is the child’s guardian has the essential task of assisting and reassuring the child. The psychological dimension is very important dimension of trauma management and, as much as the adult may be frightened or worried, it is essential that the child is welcomed and reassured as much as possible. Reassuring and comforting words with which the adult will comment the trauma will allow the child to live the experience with minimal negative consequences.

Immediately call the Trauma Department and the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist or your trusted Dentist and explain the event, asking for the first operational instructions.

Take a photograph of the dental, gum and facial trauma with a smartphone. Look for any fragments or broken teeth on the ground surrounding the place of the trauma and keep them in a wet environment: saliva, milk, saline, water …
